Non-hearing and hearing audiences dive into a mutual experience, accessible for all.
An actor and an actress take us with them onto a fantastic journey through the world of picture books. Through sign-language, voice, gestures and play they give life to the written stories and images. The lecture takes place bilingually – with sign-language and spoken word.
In 2013 the french original version received the Guy Crescent prize of the Fondations GEODIS as well as 2012 the “ENTRE LES LIGNES” prize by the Fondation SNCF. Together with Toihaus Theater Salzburg a new version in german is now being developed.
The theatre company (..) exists since 2010 and devotes their work to contemporary theatre forms around language(s) and identity – as an aesthetic search to the wider topic of communication. Very often the group works with and for people in socially or culturally unprivileged situations. This theatre of the “other” fully respects the notion of otherness and creates a new relationship to it. The company sees their work as a source of joy and an impuls for sharing. I saw “Bildergeschichten” with 5 clients of our institution (all non-hearing). Since my collegue and I are both competent in sign-language, the non-hearing actor was surprised at the end that all of us could communicate and understand each other with sign-language. I want to praise the theatre and especially the two actors for this integrating project which brings especially hearing people closer to sign-language and the world of sings and gestures.
